Having been nannies and working in the childcare and education field ourselves, we understand the duties and the day to day role, and how important it is to connect with the right family so you can thrive as a professional. At THE GOOD CHILDCARE agency, we are looking for professional nannies who share our values:

  ~ A TGC nanny is a hardworking, dedicated nanny who genuinely loves the company of children as she will spend a majority of her day with little adult interaction.

  ~ A TGC nanny has an understanding of child development, and is able to recognize developmental milestones and provide a range of indoor and outdoor age-appropriate activities to promote cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of the children in her care.

  ~ A TGC nanny has lots of energy and is able to actively engage the children in her care. 

  ~ A TGC nanny is organised with systems in place to maintain schedules and ensure that she fulfills her duties and complete her tasks.

  ~ A TGC nanny is creative and can engage the minds of the children in her care with a lot of imagination.

  ~ A TGC nanny is punctual and is able to show up on time every time.

  ~ A TGC nanny has a reserve of patience and is able to handle children’s moods and behaviors without losing her temper or becoming outwardly irritated. She is able to remain calm and exhibit a mature response being a good role model to the children.

  ~ A TGC nanny is flexible and adaptable as life with children can be unpredictable and change dependant on the children's moods. She is able to adapt to every situation she faces.

  ~ A TGC nanny is a good communicator having to effectively relay and receive information from parents and children. Solid communication skills are required, this means she is be able to communicate openly and honestly, always providing parents, often daily, information about the children’s behaviors and routines, employment issues and other day-to-day challenges.

  ~ A TGC nanny is compassionate and understanding with a nurturing spirit, and is able to form a connection with children to develop bonds with them. She is able to put the children's best interests first.

  ~ A TGC nanny is able to establish and maintain a safe environment keeping the children safe at all times and being aware of hazards and common dangers. She has a Paediatric First Aid Certificate and is able to handle an emergency keeping calm and focused. She never smokes, consumes alcohol or uses drugs while looking after children, this includes medications that may affect a nanny’s ability to provide appropriate childcare.

  ~ A TGC nanny is be able to promote nutrition, health and wellness. She has a Food Handler Certificate and is able to provide healthy and nutritious snacks and foods for the children in her care.

  ~ A TGC nanny has strong morals, teaching right from wrong, how to be kind, teaching respect and good manners, how to have a balanced overview and not discriminate. She influences the children in her care and must acknowledge the importance of the role she plays in the lives of the children so she will demonstrate virtuous attributes including integrity, truthfulness, fairness, and sincerity.

  ~ A TGC nanny is extremely reliable with a high sense of responsibility, so parents can place their trust in her to do her job well and to provide outstanding care to their children. Reliability not only applies to being physically present, but also being consistent in work quality. 

  ~ A TGC nanny really wants to be a nanny and she loves the nature of the job. Those who look to nanny because they can not find other types of employment rarely stay in the field for long.

  ~ A TGC nanny has a clean criminal background. She helps raise children to become good, law abiding citizen and serves as role model to the children in her care. Because of the intimate nature of the job, she should not have a history of criminal activity.

THE RIGHT MATCH

We know how important is finding the right nanny job with a family you feel are on the same page. At THE GOOD CHILDCARE agency we take the time to match you with a family we feel would benefit the most from your specific experience and skill set. It is important to us that you have the appropriate experience and are willing to gain further understanding of child development. 

The standards that we require are:

  ~ Relevant documents, Passport, ID and Visa.

  ~ Education and work experience – you have a degree or childcare´s qualifications in a child development field such as Early Childhood Education, Primary or Secondary Education teaching, Child Psychology, the Montessori method or Maternity nurse supported by years of experience in the field. At least 3 years recent childcare experience in a professional setting.

  ~ Language skills – you are bilingual in Spanish and English.

  ~ First Aid Certificate, or willing to get one.

  ~ Food Hadler Certificate, or be willing to get one.

  ~ Current Criminal Record Report clean (Enhanced DBS Check / CRB in UK, Police check) 

  ~ Excellent checkable references from recent positions. 

  ~ Driving license is a plus.

  ~ Willing to travel in Europe or abroad.

It is important we have as much information about you as possible as the more we know, the easier the matching process will be.

We would like to guide you through every stage of the process so you know what will be expected from each party, family and nanny, throughout this period:

  1. The first stage is to register with us and accept our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy by filling the form on our website (see below) –  if you meet our criteria we will reply to you and arrange an interview with you. We will request you to send relevant documents (Passport or ID, cover letter, CV, Education diplomas and certificates, First Aid and Food Handler Certificates, Criminal Record Report / DBS check and references). We will do all the necessary checks to make sure you are sharing our requirements and our values.

  2. The second stage is when a nanny job position (temporary or permanent) is available and you are interested in applying for it. If we think you could fit the family´s requirements and you are selected as an ideal candidate we will send your profile to the family and, if successful, arrange an interview for both parties, family and nanny. We often recommend an interview first on Skype/Zoom video and after, in person where all family members are present. While interviewing, both parties should ask each other questions and clarify any doubts that may arise. You must discuss and confirm the wages and all working conditions directly with the family during your interview stage, and request from the family to sign a work agreement/contract prior to beginning any type of work (temporary or permanent). It is the ideal way to gauge how you all feel about the match before you make your decision. After the interviuw we will review the impressions of both family and candidate.  

  3. The following stage is when the family and you make your final decisions. Both parties should take your time to consider all the aspects. If both of you feel like you have met the perfect match, then you will proceed with the signing of the contract of employment.

  4.  After your placement, we will contact both family and nanny to assess the working relationship. We offer post-placement support so whatever your concerns, we will be always very happy to help you.
